Çağatay Yılmaz, Ph.D.

Dr. Çağatay Yilmaz currently works at Abdullah Gul University (AGU) as an Assistant Professor. He has received his B.Sc. degree in Physics from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul in 2011. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering Program at Sabancı University in 2013 and 2018, respectively. He has been supported by the TUBITAK under the 2214-A International Research Fellowship Program for his Ph.D. studies at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada. His Ph.D. thesis was awarded by Gursel Sonmez Research Award by Sabanci University.

During his M.Sc. degree, he worked on the micro-capsule-based self-healing epoxy resin system for Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) application. His doctoral study involved micro-damage evaluation of composite material with Acoustic Emission, Thermal Camera, and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor. He has experience in the mechanical testing and manufacturing of thin and thick composite structures. With a strong background in composite structures, he was involved in several academic and industrial TUBITAK projects and publish several research papers related to the testing of composite structures with his colleagues.

Prior to joining AGU, he has worked at the Sabancı University-Integrated Manufacturing Center as Advanced Composite Manufacturing Laboratory Leader. He also worked as a project leader in a global bus manufacturer company, TEMSA, and joined several weight reduction projects of intercity and intracity buses.
